Square Enix is bringing a fresh twist to one of the most legendary RPG series in gaming. Dragon Quest Smash/Grow is officially arriving on mobile devices next week, giving fans a brand new way to experience the world of Dragon Quest on the go.
A Monster Focused Adventure
In this new entry, players take control of an unnamed protagonist. Your goal is to travel across the lands, meet new allies, and build a powerful adventuring party. While it keeps the classic spirit of the series, this title puts a heavy focus on monsters. You will face off against iconic creatures like Slimes and Drackies, and even take on massive killing machines.
The game also introduces Roly, a helpful mechanical sidekick voiced by Toshio Furukawa, who will guide you through your journey.
Roguelite Gameplay and Strategic Combat
Dragon Quest Smash/Grow isn’t your typical turn based RPG. It uses roguelite mechanics, meaning no two quests are exactly the same. Players will fight through swarms of enemies to grow stronger, choosing from random Blessing skills to evolve their character’s abilities and tactical approach.
When it is time to end a fight, you can unleash the signature Coup de Grâce attacks to finish off your foes in spectacular fashion. This mix of strategic upgrades and fast paced action makes it a great fit for mobile gaming.
